Strength & Flexibility Yoga

An intermediate level yoga class designed to build a balanced, deeper and mindful yoga practice. This class will include longer-held floor and balancing postures benefiting the health and flexibility of the joints, with an emphasis on postures that build core strength and endurance. Experience an increase in energy and strength while building heat. Learn to refine postures and deepen your connection to your body. Strong familiarity and comfort with foundational yoga postures recommended. Mildly heated.
Spring '10 Classes offered Mondays 6:15pm (lev 2), Tuesdays 4:30pm (lev 1), Wednesdays 6:15pm (lev. 2) and 7:30pm (lev 1), Saturdays 10:00am (lev 1) and Sundays 9:30am (lev 2)..
 
 

Yoga Flow

A traditional yoga class that emphasizes being in a posture and slowing down to experience what each moment and pose offers. This class invites you to reflect on the sensations that a particular pose may reveal as you take time to tune in and listen. Learn to actively experience and celebrate every pose within a flowing sequence as we focus on the journey rather than the destination. Build patience and relieve tension while you challenge your strength, flexibility and alignment. Class is taught at an adv. beginner/intermediate level. (This class is also recommended for advanced students looking to take their practice to a more mindful level). Mildly heated.

Spring '10 Classes offered Thursdays 6:00-7:10pm and Fridays 9:30-10:30am

 

Basic Yoga

A straightforward yoga class featuring fundamental yoga postures and primary flowing sequences. With special attention to alignment, participants will develop an awareness of their own abilities in order to self monitor and modify. This class is ideal for new-comers to yoga and seasoned practitioners alike. This is a moderately paced gentle yoga practice ideal for focusing on breath, alignment, sequence and terminology. Sun Salutation included.
Spring '10 Classes offered Thursdays 7:30pm. (please arrive 15 min early)

 

Plus Size Yoga

Plus Size Yoga Meetup is a 75 minute weekly yoga class offering full figured women a judgment free space to embrace and support each other in a healthy lifestyle. It is more than a yoga class.
Learn to use yoga and yogic principles to guide you to a vibrant life full of energy, freedom, and peace. This is a friendly, welcoming, and safe environment to explore yoga, nutrition, and topics that are specific to the lives and concerns of full figured women and women in general. Take this time to slow down, be present and enjoy the company of others. It is your turn to recharge and refocus so that you can have the vitality you want-starting here and now. Classes will be taught by Annika Nilsson-Ripps, RYT.
Plus Size Yoga is offered by session-only and requires pre-registration with payment. (mid-session enrollment with advanced RSVP only, availability permitting).

Relax & Release (based on the Hanna Somatics Technique)

Learn how to release chronic muscle tension using extremely gentle, very slow exercises that draw upon the Hanna Somatics technique of gentle muscle contraction followed by a slow release. Students will experience tension release, pain relief, increased flexibility, and an overall sense of relaxation and ease of movement. The Somatics technique will help you systematically retrain your muscles to work safely and more efficiently while releasing habitual tension that stands in the way of a better quality of life. This gentle, therapeutic technique is also useful in managing and eliminating conditions such as sciatica, scoliosis, tendonitis, osteoarthritis and more. You will feel like you have a new body in just a matter of weeks.

Spring '10 Class Mondays at 7:35pm . Appropriate for Adults and Teens. **Many students find it helpful to bring 1 large blanket to class.

Tapas Power Yoga (Adv.)

Like a perfect cup of coffee, this contemporary yoga class will get your blood flowing and inspire your practice. With an eye towards playfulness, we'll blend creative, layered posture sequences with a freestyle flow in a structured format. Explore this fresh new way to approach and enrich your practice and you'll never look back! Power Yoga is an invigorating and challenging class designed with a progressive series of postures to increase strength, stamina, flexibility, and overall conditioning. The heat created within the body during the exercise allows the muscles to safely stretch to new levels of flexibility and strength while producing an internal heat and purifying sweat. Emphasis will be placed on balancing poses, inversions and other intermediate to advanced postures--some modifications offered. Heated Room.
Spring '10 Classes offered Saturdays 8:30-9:45am. Appropriate for Adults.  

 

Prenatal Yoga

This special class for expecting moms will help you to meet the challenges and transformations of pregnancy and birth with strength, confidence and calm. Taught in a positive, supportive environment, yoga does wonders for strengthening your body and improving your ability to have a comfortable pregnancy. Learn safe, effective poses for each trimester and breathing techniques that will prepare and relax you for a smooth labor. Connect to your innate wisdom of the process of birth, and bring your awareness to the spirit of your baby. This workshop will benefit every mom-to-be, regardless of trimester or your yoga experience. Cultivate openness to change and a connection to your baby growing within you! Classes are suitable for all phases of pregnancy and no previous yoga experience is required. However, we do require you to consult with your physician before beginning class. **Please bring two bed pillows and one blanket to each class.
Prenatal classes offered Tuesdays 7:30pm and Wednesdays 4:30pm. - by session-only. No drop-ins or yoga cards accepted.

Please note: all classes require the use of a yoga (or pilates) mat. If a student does not own a mat, they are available for rental or purchase at the studio. Exercise or "gym" mats are not an acceptable substitute. This is for the safety of our students.
