Itsy Bitsy Yoga
Itsy Bitsy Yoga (IBY) is a loving, child-centered program that helps parents better understand their young children's physical development, needs and abilities through yoga. Through gentle IBYposes, songs and activities, parents and young children can develop a deeper bond. Babies as young as 3 weeks and children as old as 5 years can enjoy the structured one-on-one interaction IBY provides them and their parents. Parents, with or without yoga experience, gain a toolbox of calming techniques, healthy activities, and supportive friendships through IBY. There are nearly 125 yogic and developmentally sound activities created and adapted by Helen Garabedian, developmental movement expert and founder of IBY, to enhance the lives of new families. Class Schedule
Children and Family Yoga
Developing a yoga practice is the perfect way to ensure that children maintain healthy life habits that can serve them well as scheduling demands increase, social pressures build, and life stressors become more prevalent. Our children and family yoga classes incorporate a variety of music, themes, movement and games in a fun atmosphere that encourages creative expression. In addition, children will learn relaxation techniques and breathing exercises. Children and families practice at their own pace as they learn to honor themselves and others in non-competitive ways. IBY is a calming and nurturing yoga practice full of ways to enhance bonding and make babies happier and more comfortable in their bodies. This class contains dozens of unique yoga postures designed specifically to soothe and support the development of a baby's body. During the BABY IBY class, the baby is mostly lying on her tummy, back or in a parent's arms. For parents, this class gives the special time necessary to bond with and learn about your baby's emerging personality. Most of the yoga we do in Itsy Bitsy Yoga is for the child, but you will learn breathing and relaxation techniques as well as practice some yoga yourself (no yoga experience required).
ages: almost-crawling to 22 months
A fun-loving, supportive, and active yoga practice filled with dozens of Itsy Bitsy Yoga poses just for tots. In a time when tots naturally become busier, Itsy Bitsy Yoga continues to build the parent/child bond, helps our tots feel happier and more confident in their moving bodies, and encourages their creative spirit.
IBY incorporates many proven techniques that playfully teach tots yoga postures while they are standing, sitting up, walking, and jumping. Parents get to do a little yoga too (no yoga experience required). Experience the shared joy when tots move into yoga poses on their own!
ages: 21 months through 4.5 years old.
Tykes IBY offers a fascinating flow of poses, songs, stories, and games through which parent and child can deepen their bond. Developed by Helen Garabedian, an Infant/Early Childhood Developmental Movement Educator and Yoga Teacher, this age-appropriate 45 minute class helps Tykes and their parents discover and enhance their physical and social development. With alarming child obesity rates, experts agree that young children need more structured and developmentally safe physical activity on a regular basis. Tykes Itsy Bitsy Yoga is good for building a child's foundation for a healthy and fit lifestyle, and it is so much fun! (no yoga experience required).
